MICHIGAN LIFE SCIENCE INDUSTRY HR STRATEGY MEETS ACADEMIC CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
This event asks the question – with so many life science graduates in the state, why are companies struggling to meet their talent needs? And, more importantly, what can be done about it?
This virtual event is divided in two parts – the morning consists of sessions covering topics such as evolving corporate hiring strategies, non-technical skills and characteristics that are essential for a career in the life sciences, what the modern hiring process looks like, and notably – the process through which new curriculum and public-private partnerships are developed.
The afternoon then shifts to engagement – a series of roundtable discussions give employers in each sector the opportunity to share what their specific sector is looking for in terms of skills and abilities, alongside conversations that lay the groundwork for developing partnerships and collaborations along the educational continuum.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
If your organization is struggling to meet your talent objectives, sees your workforce as a potential risk factor in the next five years, or wants to hear what other life science organizations are doing to meet their talent needs – you should attend this event.
If your students are struggling to get hired, are leaving the state to find opportunities that match their skillsets, or you want to learn the evolving strategies companies are applying to their workforce – you should attend this event.
If you are interested in a career in the life sciences, are looking for networking opportunities, or otherwise want to be better informed on career pathways available in the life sciences - you should attend this event.
ALL organizations that are represented with at least one paying individual will have a complementary virtual exhibit booth to share open positions, conduct on-the-spot interviews with interested candidates, and, most importantly, share their hiring philosophy with educators, partners, and others within the industry to help identify specific unmet talent needs.
