Interim Manager

We are seeking a talented and experienced Interim Business Leader to lead the initial phase of our new city initiated venture intended to support aspiring local entrepreneurs primarily operating in the Life Sciences arena. While we search for a permanent leader, the ideal candidate will use a proven record of success in supporting new ventures to understand user needs and initiate business processes needed for an orderly launch of a new enterprise.

This is a temporary position that is expected to last for six months to one year. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Using an established set of criteria, this leader will identify and appropriately vet potential clients for the Life Science business incubator known as the Hawk Hatchery.
• Responsibility will include negotiation with potential clients regarding contracts, requirements, rules and rents and administration of same.
• Using client requirements as the guide, develop the necessary processes for specifications, approvals and funding for specific business services and facility needs and follow to implementation.
• Manage and oversee all day to day operational aspects of the fledgling Hawk Hatchery.
• Ultimately, client success will be the measure of success for the Hawk Hatchery. It will be expected that this leader will be able to provide appropriate council to new entrepreneurs about the full spectrum of new business-related issues including operations, finance, marketing, and human resources.
• Ensure that the enterprise complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Provide as needed reports to City leadership on performance and progress towards achieving initial goals.

Requirements

• Proven track record of entrepreneurial success with a new venture or equivalent
• Proven track record of business leadership
• Excellent operational planning and problem-solving abilities
• Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Suite programs

Preferred

• Experience with business incubators
• Background in the Life Sciences industry
