As our member companies seek to develop and manufacture sustainable, bio-based food, energy and industrial products, as well as life-changing medical devices, diagnostics, and medicines for the global consumption, MichBio assists their technology innovation and commercialization efforts by advocating for smart and appropriate laws and regulations that guide research, development and go-to-market activities.
MichBio participates in policy efforts that work to create a pro-innovation environment that enables the growth of the life sciences community and the development of treatments and technologies that feed, fuel, and cure the world.
MichBio is part of a network of organizations that work nationally and internationally on behalf of the United States and global bio-industries. As part of those partnerships, MichBio participates in federal advocacy days, policy-specific advocacy efforts, and engages organizations within the state of Michigan to participate in national advocacy where appropriate.
Given the number of issues across all sectors, MichBio leans on the national organizations to provide information on the current issues at the federal level and tools for advocates specific to the sector they represent.
Michigan is one of few states that has a designated legislative caucus for the bio-industry. The Caucus acts as an additional voice for the industry in the State Legislature.
There are many ways you can get involved in the advocacy process including signing or composing letters to policy-makers, attending advocacy-related events, and staying informed on active legislation related to the bio-industry. Your work is important, so is your voice.
