Michigan Health Information Network Announces Appointment of Janée Tyus to its Board of Directors
Tyus brings over a decade of experience in advancing health equity, improving access to the Board
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN), Michigan’s state designated health information exchange, today announced that Janée Tyus, MPH has been elected to its Board of Directors. Tyus will bring over a decade of unique experience in clinical research, public policy, community engagement and nonprofit leadership to MiHIN to further its mission of improving healthcare delivery in Michigan through enhanced data sharing.
Tyus has been deeply involved in nonprofit healthcare in Michigan and has a track record of successfully leading organizations at the intersection of health and social care in marginalized communities. She joins 14 other multidisciplinary members and will help provide overall strategic guidance and oversight to the organization.
“Janée has a wealth of experience in nonprofit healthcare, specifically advancing health equity, expanding access for underserved populations and improving quality of care,” said Dr. Isabell Pachecho, Chief Administrative Officer. “She brings the perfect combination of talent, experience and mindset to our organization as we work closely with our stakeholders to enhance and refine service offerings, invest in the next generation health IT workforce and deliver solutions that will transform the healthcare experience for Michigan residents. We are excited to welcome her to our Board of Directors and look forward to the leadership and expertise that she will provide.”
Tyus currently serves as the Senior Program Director of the Mid-Michigan Community Health Access Program (CHAP) at the Greater Flint Health Coalition, a 501(c)3 designated non-profit organization with a two-fold mission to improve the health status of Flint and Genesee County residents and to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of the health care system in the community. Additionally, Tyus is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Michigan-Flint Department of Public Health and Health Sciences.

Tyus was recently appointed to a three-year term on the Michigan Health Information Technology (HIT) Commission by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Housed within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), the Commission’s mission is to facilitate and promote the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of an interoperable health care information infrastructure in Michigan.

Tyus holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Health from Drexel University’s School of Public Health.
